Organizing as you shoot

One of the first things you need to do as you shoot is to put all your images into the appropriate categories as you take them. Figure 4-1 represents the immediate organizational structure of a photo collection.

Photoshop can enable you to organize an image collection into similar photos without having to organize them manually. Photoshop does so by applying an _Albums Smart Tag_ to each image that automatically groups all images that are similar. You can apply the Albums Smart Tag to a single image or to an entire folder of images.

What name can I give to a variable passed with a function?

Is there a way to give to a variable a simple name without the ‘this’ suffix, like when I pass the parameter to the function? The problem is that i want to give the name to the parameter, I’ve read all the questions and answers and all of them are about this’s name. The fact is that I don’t care about the this’s name because when I’ll pass the parameter to a function, I just want to add the name, but the function keep calling with ‘this’, is there a way to pass the name too?

How should I handle certificate and private key expiry?

I just started using TLS for my web server and I’m having troubles finding the appropriate recommendation on how to handle certificate expiration. The expiration recommendations I see online don’t mention private key expiry. Should my server terminate the session (if the private key has expired) and re-accept the client’s certificate once the keys are renewed (which would likely occur if the initial certificate is expired)? Should I just let the client issue a new certificate for my server?

I don’t know about security considerations, but with certificate management, generally, you want to avoid changing the certificates. This happens mainly for organizational convenience, because you don’t want to mess with the CAs infrastructure and you don’t want to have to send out new certificates to every client.
What happens if the old certificate expires? The server will no longer be able to authenticate itself, and the clients won’t be able to authenticate themselves anymore. To avoid this, the clients should save the old certificate and use that instead of the fresh one. That way they don’t have to revoke their old connections and clients and re-issue new ones.
Whether you change the private keys is also a big topic, and isn’t really relevant in this case. If you are changing the private key, it doesn’t really matter whether that keys last longer than the certificate it was bound to. You shouldn’t even change the private keys if you don’t want to change the certificates anyway.

The important part in this is that there should be a policy that prevents the organisation from losing its SSL certificate. Some organisations have write rules that state “ssl certificate last x years”.
The certificate should never be changed/renewed, because it could break the previous connection. It is possible to keep both keys (public and private) in the browser and the server, and send the public one to the server (in which case the server is the “authority” to get a new certificate, sent by the client).
If you are worried, you should contact your hoster, as the risk of loosing your SSL certificate (and the possibility of creating a security issue) is too big.
