In the days and weeks leading up to the NFL Draft, there was a strong assumption that Indy Eleven would be a player for one of the professional sports franchises vying for an expansion team. Indy Eleven’s marketing arm made no secret of the desire to be awarded an NFL franchise.
However, with the final selection of the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft just over, Indy Eleven still remain uninformed and no closer to knowing if they will remain in Indianapolis or find a new home. The front office has been told the decision to be made will be in the coming days, possibly during this week’s NFL Draft.
Indy Eleven officials and ownership have been notified that the NFL has interviewed seven prospective ownership groups (five groups announced at the draft, two more groups were privately contacted by NFL teams).
