The ADK can be extended to provide a number of customized features, such as development tools, commands, libraries and objects.

The ADK is also used by the add-on AutoCAD Architect, which allows customized development of AutoCAD components. The add-on integrates the graphical layout tools with the underlying code, and offers a GUI. AutoCAD Architect is available on Windows, macOS and Linux.

The ADK is available in many programming languages and is supported in a variety of programming environments and programming languages. It includes a command-line tool for use with scripting languages such as AutoLISP, Python and Ruby. # Step 1: Activate Autocad

As we mentioned earlier, you need to activate Autocad before you start working.

Follow these steps to activate Autocad.

**1.** Go to the Autodesk website www.autodesk.com/autocad and log in.

**9.** Click “Add to Cart.”

**10.** Continue to check out and enter your credit card information.

**11.** You will be redirected to the “Payment Info” page. Click “Checkout.”

**12.** The payment process will start, and you will be directed back to the “Review Order” page.

**13.** Click “Continue.”

**14.** Press the Enter key to proceed with the purchase.

**15.** Press the Enter key again and wait for the process to be completed.

**16.** Once completed, Autocad will be activated.

**17.** You will be redirected to the Autocad desktop application.

**18.** You can start working on your designs as soon as you activate Autocad.

Find and Replace:

Find and Replace will show you the top 10 matches for a searched word or phrase. When you’ve found the right one, you can jump to it without having to browse through hundreds of matches.

Draw 2D:

Draw 2D will show you the top 10 objects that match the selection criteria you specified. You can also directly hit a key shortcut to select the first or last object on the list.

Print

Print 2D can print out any selection you’ve created from the command line. You can even print a selection from a shape layer, so that only the features on the selected shape layer are printed.

Interact:

The new Interact command window will show you all the models that intersect the selected model. You can also define a threshold to define which objects are visible to the user in your drawing. (video: 1:48 min.)

Data Management:

The new Data Management command will help you organize the data that’s stored in your files.

Define:

Define will import and track the settings that you’ve defined in the past. This will keep track of the layers you created and the object types you’ve created.

Keep Lines Straight:

Keep Lines Straight will help you to quickly create precision layouts. Even if you don’t have an accurate reference, Keep Lines Straight will show you the most accurate path to create a perfectly-aligned layout.

Patterns:

Patterns now support layers, so you can use AutoCAD as a digital drawing aid. Just open a new drawing and select one of the included patterns.
